Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.1.1.3 - Identify numbers in different positions around a given number in a number chart

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Locate a given number correctly on a number chart that counts in multiples of 500 up to 100,000.
  2. State the numbers that appear directly above, below, to the left, and to the right of a given number on a number chart.
  3. Identify the two numbers that come diagonally (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right) from a given number in the chart.
  4. Use the pattern of the chart to quickly name numbers in any position without counting one by one.
  5. Justify their answers by explaining the pattern or rule they used to find the number in a given position.
