Indicator: B4.1.1.3.4 - Recognise the relationship between factors and multiples.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define factors and multiples in their own words and explain how the two are related.
  2. List all factor pairs of a given number up to 50.
  3. Identify whether a given number is a multiple of 2, 3, 4, or 5 using simple divisibility checks.
  4. Explain that a number can be described as a multiple of each of its factors.
  5. Solve simple problems that require finding factors or multiples in everyday contexts.

E.g. 1 Factors represent the numbers that we can multiply to get a bigger number called the product or multiple. Since 12 = 4 × 3 , we can say 4 and 3 are factors of 12; and 12 is a multiple of 3 or a multiple of 4. Break given multiples into factors and pairs of factors of given numbers.
