Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.3.LI.3 - Applying the modalities of injury prevention and management in a practical lesson.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate at least three correct techniques for managing common sports and everyday injuries using the available first aid kit.
  2. Perform the roles of both first aider and injured victim in a simulated injury scenario, applying the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) principle where appropriate.
  3. Apply proper wound cleaning and dressing procedures on a simulated wound without contaminating the injured area.
  4. Evaluate a peer’s first aid response using a simple checklist and give constructive feedback on what was done correctly and what needs improvement.
  5. Justify the choice of a particular injury management technique over another based on the type and severity of the injury presented.
