Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.4.2.LI.2 - Discuss conventional responses to climate change.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define conventional responses to climate change and distinguish them from indigenous strategies studied in Week 17.
- Identify at least four conventional mitigation and adaptation strategies used in agriculture, such as improved crop varieties, irrigation systems, early warning systems, and greenhouse technology.
- Explain how conventional responses such as weather forecasting, crop insurance, and agrochemical use help farmers cope with climate variability.
- Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to research and present findings on a chosen conventional climate change response.
- Evaluate the strengths and limitations of conventional responses compared with indigenous strategies in sustaining rural agriculture.
