Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.1.1.LI.2 - Identify role models in Ghana and beyond in various careers in physical education and discuss their contributions to the society and sports development in general.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least five role models from Ghana and beyond who have excelled in various careers within the physical education and health enterprise (e.g., teaching, coaching, sport management, administration, and professional athletics).
- Describe the career journey of each identified role model, including the education, training, and key milestones that shaped their path.
- Discuss the specific contributions of these role models to national development and to the development of their chosen sport or field.
- Explain how the attributes of these role models (e.g., dedication, discipline, resilience) can be applied to their own career aspirations in physical activity and sports.
- Work collaboratively in mixed-ability and mixed-gender groups to research, present, and discuss the impact of sports role models on Ghanaian society and beyond.

Collaborative Learning: In mixed-ability groups, task learners to research on some sports legends in Ghana and beyond and write on their career journey and their contributions to the development of their nations and the development of sports in general. Assessment (1.1.1.AS.2): 2: Describe the role and attributes of a professional athlete. Level 3: Describe the impact a professional athlete can have on a nation and their chosen sport. Level 4: Explain at least four physical education and health-based careers in a two-page essay. Teaching and Learning Resources: - Online resources - Pictures/charts - Phones/laptops - Projectors - Showing or exhibiting opportunities in physical education. - Videos - Textbooks - Any other relevant materials. - Any other equipment found in the community fit for purpose.
