Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.2.4.1.1 - Compare and contrast the different types of feed for different types of animals
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Classify animal feed into at least four main types (roughages, concentrates, supplements, and mixed feeds) and give one local example of each.
- Compare and contrast roughages and concentrates based on their fibre content, nutrient density, and the animals that feed on them.
- Match at least four different types of animals (e.g., cattle, poultry, pigs, rabbits) with the most appropriate feed type and justify the choice.
- Identify the major nutrients present in different animal feeds (carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals) and state their sources.
- Read and interpret feed package labels to select appropriate feed based on the proportions of nutrients stated.
