Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.2.1.2 - Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of algebraic expressions including fractions.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Simplify algebraic fractions involving multiplication of monomials and binomials by cancelling common factors.
Simplify algebraic fractions involving division by multiplying by the reciprocal, then cancelling common factors.
Add and subtract algebraic fractions by finding a common denominator and simplifying the numerator.
Apply the four operations to algebraic fractions in solving word problems involving quantities.
