Learning Objectives
Indicator: B1.3.1.1.2 - Identify three-dimensional shapes, including spheres, cylinders, rectangular prisms (including cubes), and triangular prisms and describe their attributes using formal geometric language
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and name at least four three-dimensional shapes: sphere, cylinder, rectangular prism (including cube), and triangular prism, when shown real objects or pictures.
- Describe the attributes of each 3D shape using formal geometric language such as faces, edges, and vertices.
- Sort a given set of 3D shapes using a single feature such as size or shape, and explain the sorting rule they used.
- Compare two pre-sorted sets of 3D shapes and state the feature that is different between them.
- Justify their reasoning when classifying shapes by giving a clear reason for their choices.
