Learning Objectives
Indicator: B5.4.2.1.1 - Classify the likelihood of a single outcome occurring in a probability experiment as impossible, possible, or certain
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define and distinguish between impossible, possible, and certain outcomes using everyday examples.
- Classify single outcomes from a probability experiment (such as rolling a die or picking from a bag) as impossible, possible, or certain.
- Justify their classification of an outcome by examining the full set of possible results of an experiment.
- List all possible outcomes of a simple probability experiment and identify outcomes that are impossible, possible, or certain.
- Explain why an outcome like “obtaining the number 7 on a die” is impossible while “obtaining 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6” is certain.
