Indicator: B5.4.1.2.2 - Identify examples of double bar graphs used in a variety of print and electronic media, such as newspapers, magazines, and the internet.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the distinguishing features of a double bar graph (title, two bars per category, axes labels, and key or legend).
- Locate and recognise examples of double bar graphs in newspapers, magazines, and on websites.
- Explain what a double bar graph is used for (comparing two sets of data across the same categories).
- Sort examples of graphs from media into “double bar graph” and “not a double bar graph” with reasons.
- Justify their identification by pointing to specific features of a graph (e.g., “There are two bars for each month, so it is a double bar graph”).
