Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.3.2.1.2 - Calculate perimeter of given shapes in centimetres and metres.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define perimeter as the total distance around a 2-D shape.
  2. Calculate the perimeter of rectangles, squares and triangles by adding the lengths of all sides.
  3. Convert between centimetres and metres when stating perimeter answers.
  4. Solve word problems involving perimeter in real-life situations.
  5. Justify their answers by showing clearly how they added the side lengths.
