Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.2.2.1 - Multiply multi digit numbers by 2-digit numbers efficiently

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number using the expand and box (partial decomposition) method, showing each partial product clearly.
  2. Multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number using the column (vertical) method, carrying correctly where necessary.
  3. Multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number using the distributive property, such as 25 × 32 = (25 × 30) + (25 × 2).
  4. Multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number using the lattice method, drawing the correct grid and reading the final answer correctly.
  5. Solve a word problem that requires multiplying a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number in a real-life situation, explaining the reasoning used.
