Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.4.LI.3 - Generate solutions to solve identified problems.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Generate at least three distinct possible solutions to a previously identified problem in the home, using a structured brainstorming approach.
Explain the suitability and workability of each generated solution against criteria such as cost, materials available, skills required, and user needs.
Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups of no more than five to develop and present a feasible solution with reasoned justifications.
Evaluate peer-generated solutions constructively, offering at least one strength and one area for improvement for another group’s proposal.
Select and justify the most workable solution from a set of alternatives, linking the choice to the design brief written in the previous week.

Problem- based learning, Collaborative learning/Group work: In a mixed-ability group of no more than five members, assist learners to develop some possible solutions to identified problems they observed in their selected environment.

Talk for learning: Using demonstration, guide learners to critically examine how their solutions are suitable and workable in solving the identified problems.
