Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.2.LI.1 - Examine the role of tourism in the socio-economic development of Ghana and the challenges facing the tourism sector

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Explain at least four ways tourism contributes to the socio-economic development of Ghana, using specific local examples.
Identify and analyse at least five challenges facing the tourism sector in Ghana, with reference to specific tourist sites.
Evaluate the relative importance of tourism compared to other economic activities in Ghana, using statistical data provided.
Propose realistic solutions to address two or more identified challenges facing the tourism sector.
Work collaboratively in mixed-gender and mixed-ability groups to research, discuss and present findings on tourism in Ghana.
