Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.1.LI.3 - Discuss factors influencing population growth, population distribution and migration in Ghana

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain at least four factors that influence population growth in Ghana, distinguishing between birth rate, death rate and migration as components of growth.
  2. Analyse how physical, economic and social factors shape the uneven distribution of Ghana’s population across its regions.
  3. Categorise the push and pull factors that drive both internal and international migration in Ghana, using specific Ghanaian examples.
  4. Evaluate how the interaction of growth, distribution and migration factors affects the development of specific settlements in Ghana.
  5. Apply strategic reasoning to propose policy responses to population challenges in a given Ghanaian scenario.
