Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.1.1.LI.2 - Examine the importance of river landforms to the socio-economic development in Ghana
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least four river landforms found in Ghana and state their locations.
- Explain how specific river landforms (floodplains, deltas, waterfalls, gorges, meanders, and levees) contribute to agriculture, energy production, transport, and water supply in Ghana.
- Discuss the role of river landforms in supporting livelihoods such as fishing, farming, and tourism, with reference to specific Ghanaian rivers.
- Assess the socio-economic benefits and potential challenges associated with the use of river landforms in Ghana, using evidence from at least two Ghanaian examples.
- Present a group report linking river landforms to socio-economic development, using digital tools such as Google Earth to identify and locate landforms.
