Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.3.3.LI.2 - Compose appropriate treatments of constituent parts for forms of recognition and abstraction.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and name the constituent parts (head, torso, limbs, features, or geometric components) of at least three figurative and abstract forms found in their school compound or community.
- Explain at least two different treatments (stylisation, exaggeration, simplification, distortion) that can be applied to the constituent parts of a form for purposes of recognition or abstraction.
- Brainstorm in small groups and select appropriate treatments for the constituent parts of a chosen subject to create a recognisable or abstract composition.
- Produce a group composition (drawing or painting) that demonstrates deliberate treatment of constituent parts, showing understanding of both recognition and abstraction.
- Present and justify the treatment choices made in their composition, using appropriate art vocabulary during group critique.
