Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.1.LI.3 - Design and execute prototypes as solutions to the problem identified.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define a prototype and explain its purpose in the art and design process, building on the problems identified in Week 8.
  2. Select appropriate materials and techniques for constructing a prototype that addresses a specific societal problem from their environment.
  3. Construct a working prototype in groups, applying design thinking principles to solve a community problem.
  4. Present their prototype to the class, explaining how it solves the identified problem and justifying their material and design choices.
  5. Evaluate their own and peers’ prototypes using agreed criteria, demonstrating critical thinking and reasoned feedback.
