Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.2.2.LI.3 - Apply aesthetic theories in the analysis of art and design works.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least three major aesthetic theories (Imitationism, Formalism, Emotionalism) and state their core claims in their own words.
- Apply each aesthetic theory to a selected Ghanaian artwork or design work, explaining which elements of the work each theory draws attention to.
- Compare and contrast the different judgements that result when the same artwork is analysed through different aesthetic lenses.
- Support their analysis with specific visual evidence from the artwork, citing at least two features per theory applied.
- Present and defend their group analysis to the class, responding respectfully to alternative interpretations from peers.
