SHS3 Aviation And Aerospace Engineering · Semester 2, Week 13

Design and Fabrication of UAVs

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.4.3.LI.2 - Apply evaluation tables to select the best concept from a number of UAV concepts.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. List at least four relevant evaluation criteria derived from a given UAV mission requirement statement.
  2. Construct a decision matrix (evaluation table) that pairs each UAV concept against the stated criteria with appropriate weighting.
  3. Assign scores to each UAV concept against each criterion using a consistent rating scale, and compute weighted totals accurately.
  4. Justify, in writing or verbally, the selection of one UAV concept over competing concepts based on the final decision matrix scores.
  5. Identify weaknesses in a poorly designed evaluation table (e.g., missing criteria, unfair weighting) and suggest improvements.
