Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.3.LI.2 - Make log entries of maintenance activities performed.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain the purpose and legal importance of an aircraft maintenance logbook in ensuring airworthiness and safety.
  2. Identify the essential components of a proper log entry, including date, aircraft identification, maintenance task performed, personnel details, and certification.
  3. Differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable log entries by analysing sample entries against aviation maintenance standards.
  4. Create accurate, complete, and truthful log entries for routine and periodic maintenance activities performed in previous lessons.
  5. Evaluate a completed logbook for errors, omissions, and inconsistencies, and justify corrections in line with aviation regulations.

Talk for Learning: Through a question and answer session, learners brainstorm what a logbook is. Show learners what a logbook is using videos or pictures.
Project-Based Learning: In pairs/ small groups, learners develop a logbook and make entries of maintenance activities. Using manila cards and display in class for comments. Encourage learners to respect and tolerate others comments.
