Indicator: 1.4.1.LI.1 - Explain the causes of current world disasters
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- List at least five major causes of current world disasters, distinguishing between natural and human-induced causes.
- Explain how human activities such as deforestation, burning of fossil fuels and poor farming practices trigger or worsen disasters.
- Link climate variability to specific disasters such as floods, droughts, wildfires and coastal erosion.
- Present a brief verbal or written report on a current world disaster, identifying its causes and effects on agriculture and rural livelihoods.
- Work collaboratively in mixed-ability and mixed-gender groups using digital tools to research disaster causes.
