Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.4.1.LI.1 - Explain the causes of current world disasters

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

List at least five major causes of current world disasters, distinguishing between natural and human-induced causes.
Explain how human activities such as deforestation, burning of fossil fuels and poor farming practices trigger or worsen disasters.
Link climate variability to specific disasters such as floods, droughts, wildfires and coastal erosion.
Present a brief verbal or written report on a current world disaster, identifying its causes and effects on agriculture and rural livelihoods.
Work collaboratively in mixed-ability and mixed-gender groups using digital tools to research disaster causes.
