Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.3.1.LI.2 - Describe land acquisition and land title registration procedures.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the steps involved in acquiring land through customary means, including approaching the family head, chief, or dikro.
- Describe the procedures for registering a land title at the Lands Commission, from application to issuance of the certificate.
- Distinguish between the stages of land acquisition and the later stages of formal title registration.
- Compile findings from a family head or chief interview and a Lands Commission visit into a short report.
- Justify why formal land title registration is important for agricultural investment and long-term farming operations.
