Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.2.1.LI.3 - Carry out required post-harvest practices and market the produce.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and describe at least four post-harvest practices for vegetables and ornamental plants and explain why each is necessary.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for harvesting, cleaning, grading, and packaging selected vegetable crops from the school plot.
- Calculate the cost of production, selling price, and expected profit for a given quantity of harvested produce.
- Create a simple marketing plan that includes target customers, pricing, and selling strategies for the harvested produce.
- Present a sales report of proceeds from the group’s produce sale, showing income, expenses, and profit.

Project-Based Learning: Learners in mixed-ability and mixed-gender groups are assigned to vegetable crops and ornamental plants. Learners form subgroups to harvest and market the produce. Appropriate post-harvest practices are carried out where necessary. Various groups sell the produce and render accounts to the class.
