Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.1.5.LI.5 - Identify the components of wellness and how they influence life (physical, social, intellectual/mental and emotional wellness).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and describe the four components of wellness: physical, social, intellectual/mental, and emotional wellness.
- Explain how each of the four components of wellness influences daily life.
- Create a concept map showing the four components of wellness and their interconnections.
- Reflect on their personal wellness across the four dimensions and set at least two specific, achievable goals for improvement.
- Provide gender-neutral examples of lifestyle choices that support each component of wellness.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Collaborative Learning: Learners in mixed-ability groups with the aid of the internet or any other supplementary material create concept maps to describe and explain the first four components of wellness. Learners present their answers for a whole class discussion. Talk for Learning: Learners reflect on their own wellness across the dimensions discussed. Encourage them to set specific and achievable goals for improvement in areas they identify as needing attention. Assessment (1.1.5.AS.5): Level 2: Explain at least two components of wellness. Level 3: Analyse at least two lifestyle choices each that can lead to physical, social, mental and emotional wellness. Level 4: Prepare a healthy lifestyle chart or a log of activities to be engaged in daily for a month to stay physically, socially, mentally and emotionally healthy. Teaching and Learning Resources: - Online resources - Pictures/charts - Phones/laptops - Projectors - Visual and audio-visual aids. - Textbooks - Any other relevant materials - Learners explore the internet with their ICT tools (phones, laptops, etc.)
