Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.1.4.LI.7 - Identify the types of basic skills in basketball and apply them in a game of basketball (dribbling in basketball).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify dribbling as one of the foundational skills in basketball and state at least two other basic basketball skills (passing, shooting, rebounding).
- Explain the purpose and importance of dribbling in a basketball game, including when it is used and why it matters.
- Demonstrate the correct technique for stationary dribbling, using the fingertips, waist-level bounce, and controlled ball placement.
- Demonstrate moving dribbling by advancing the ball while walking, then jogging, and finally running, while keeping eyes up and control of the ball.
- Apply dribbling skills in a modified basketball game scenario, following basic rules such as avoiding double dribble and travelling.
