Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.1.2.LI.2 - Perform a traditional dance as physical and recreational activities for improving skill and health-related fitness (e.g. Agbadza).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Demonstrate at least two distinct steps of the Agbadza dance in sequence with basic coordination.
- Perform a complete short routine of Agbadza incorporating three or more steps in rhythm with drumming.
- Identify and orally state which components of skill-related fitness (e.g. coordination, balance, rhythm) are being improved while dancing Agbadza.
- Identify and orally state which components of health-related fitness (e.g. cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance) are being improved while dancing Agbadza.
- Collaborate respectfully in mixed-gender, mixed-ability groups to practise and present the dance, showing inclusion and mutual support.

Experiential Learning: Show a video to the whole class of the dance to be learned. Take learners through the steps involved in the dance and aid them in their various groups to practice the dance following the steps. Assessment (1.1.2.AS.2): Level 1: Perform the dance with at least two steps involved. Level 3: Perform the dance with three steps involved in performing it. Level 3: Orally narrate the background to the dance and perform the dance with all steps involved in performing it Teaching and Learning Resources: - Online resources - Phones/laptops - Projectors - Drums - Castanet - Clappers - Costumes for the various traditional dances - Dance rooms or studio - Sound system and speakers. - Any other equipment found in the community fit for purpose.
