Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.5.2.2.1 - Explain the concepts of health and disease and show their relationship.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- State the World Health Organisation (WHO) definition of health in their own words.
- Explain that health is more than just the absence of disease, covering physical, mental and social wellbeing.
- Define disease as any condition that interferes with the normal functioning of the body or mind.
- Describe the relationship between health and disease as two ends of a continuum, where a person can move between states of good health and illness.
- Give everyday examples from their community of people who may be free from disease yet not fully healthy, and people who manage diseases while still maintaining good overall health.
