1. Explain the term repentance:
Repentance - remorseful, realisation and resolve not to repeat past misconduct
2. Identify stages of repentance:
• Realisation and acceptance of one's fault (1 John 1: 8-9) and Qur'an 25:70-71; Qur'an 66:8. Proverb: "An honest confession is difficult to make but it brings peace of mind".
• regret for doing wrong
• request for pardon
• promise never to repeat same bad deed(s), etc.
3. Discuss the importance of repentance:
• promote good relationship
• draws humankind to God
• it reliefs the conscience of the individual, etc.
4. Use the story of the prodigal son in the Bible to dramatise the need for repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation.
