E.g. 1. Identify perfect squares or perfect numbers.
(i) List sets of multiples of numbers and identify a set of perfect numbers among them
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, … 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 16, 18, … 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, … Perfect squares 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, …...
E.g. 2. Use the knowledge on odd numbers to determine the square root of perfect numbers.
(i) Determine the square root of 49. Think subtract the consecutive odd numbers starting from 1 from 49 until the remainder is zero. Then count the number of odd numbers subtracted as the square root of the given number.
