Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.5.1.1.1 - Draw plane figures using instruments

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and name at least five two-dimensional (2-D) plane figures, including circles, triangles, quadrilaterals and other polygons, by their properties.
  2. Demonstrate the correct use of drawing instruments (ruler, set square, compass and protractor) to draw a given plane figure accurately.
  3. Construct a circle, a triangle, a quadrilateral and a regular polygon (e.g. a hexagon) using the appropriate instruments.
  4. Cut out the drawn plane figures neatly and arrange them into a labelled album or flash card game.
  5. Use the cut-out shapes to play a matching or sorting game and explain the properties of each shape used.
