Indicator: B8.3.3.1.3 - Demonstrate how to care for and maintain tools and equipment used for joining and assembling

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Explain why regular cleaning and maintenance of joining and assembling tools is important for safety and tool lifespan.
Demonstrate the correct procedure for cleaning and oiling a sewing machine after use.
Demonstrate how to wash, dry and store building site tools such as trowels and spades after a day’s work.
Demonstrate how to clean and oil the metal parts of woodworking tools such as planes, saws and chisels.
Create a simple maintenance schedule or checklist for tools and equipment in a selected workshop or laboratory.
