JHS1 Mathematics · Term 2, Week 2
Number: Ratios and Proportion
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.1.4.1.4 - Use the proportional reasoning to find missing values in the tables, and plot pairs of values on the coordinate plane.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Use proportional reasoning to identify the constant multiplier between rows in tables of equivalent ratios and find missing values.
- Complete tables of equivalent ratios that include at least two missing values (such as x and y).
- Write pairs of values from a completed ratio table as ordered pairs (x, y).
- Plot pairs of values from a ratio table on a coordinate plane (using the first quadrant) and check that the points lie on a straight line through the origin.
- Interpret a plotted point on a coordinate plane in the context of the ratio problem it represents.
