Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.1.2.2.1 - Add and subtract up to four-digit numbers.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Add up to four-digit whole numbers using the expanded form (partitioning) method, with correct regrouping where needed.
- Subtract up to four-digit whole numbers using the expanded form method, with correct borrowing where needed.
- Add decimal numbers with up to two decimal places by aligning place values (tenths, hundredths, units, tens, hundreds).
- Subtract decimal numbers with up to two decimal places by aligning place values and regrouping correctly.
- Verify their answers by performing a reverse operation (inverse check) to confirm accuracy.
