Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.5.2.1.1 - Explain the causes, symptoms and prevention of Eczema

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define eczema as a non-contagious skin condition that causes red, itchy and inflamed patches on the skin.
  2. Identify at least three common causes or triggers of eczema, including genetic factors, allergies, and environmental irritants.
  3. State at least four symptoms of eczema, such as dry skin, intense itching, red or brownish patches, and small raised bumps that may leak fluid.
  4. Describe at least three practical ways to prevent or manage eczema flare-ups at home and in school.
  5. Practise observing skin conditions with care and describe what they see without making judgements about the person.
