Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.4.2.1.2 - Identify the symbols used in representing various components in a given circuit diagram

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify the standard symbols for a battery, connecting wire, switch and electrical bulb when shown a circuit diagram.
Match at least four basic circuit components with their corresponding symbols.
Draw simple circuit diagrams using the correct symbols for a battery, connecting wires, a switch and an electrical bulb.
Recognise that circuit diagrams are a universal shorthand way of showing how components are connected, and that the symbols differ from the real appearance of the components.
