B6 Mathematics · Term 2, Week 10
Pattern and Relationships
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.2.1.1.7 - Write a rule in words and in algebra to represent a given pattern
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the constant difference in a given linear pattern and state it correctly.
- Write the rule for a pattern in words, using phrases like “multiply by” and “add” or “subtract.”
- Translate the word rule into an algebraic expression using the variable n.
- Use the algebraic rule to find the output for any given input or term number.
- Justify their chosen rule by checking it against at least two terms in the pattern.
