Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.2.1.1.4 - Represent a given pattern visually to verify predictions
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Draw the next two terms of a given matchstick pattern to check whether their numerical prediction is correct.
- Create a visual representation (diagram or drawing) of a matchstick pattern from a table of values.
- Verify a stated prediction by drawing the pattern and counting the matchsticks.
- Use visual representations to justify whether a predicted number of matchsticks for a given pattern number is correct or incorrect.
- Construct their own matchstick pattern, draw it, and use the drawing to make and verify a prediction.
