By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Name at least three local industries found in their community and the products they make.
Identify and list the raw materials used in kenkey production, gari production, and ceramic and pottery production.
Match local products to their correct raw materials through a sorting and matching activity.
Observe a local production site or video and record the raw materials used in the industry.
Explain in their own words why raw materials are important to any industry.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

- Take learners to a local gari, kenkey, shea butter, cooking oil, blacksmith, basketry, carpentry or pottery production site or show videos of such ventures.
- Learners observe critically and identify the raw materials used in the various industries.
- Engage the learners in a matching activity to match some local products with their raw materials.
Project: Designing an Industry. Learners plan and design a factory in their locality, showing the raw materials they use and the finished products.
