Learning Objectives

Indicator: B2.1.1.1.6 - Use place value to compare and order whole numbers up to 100 using comparative language, numbers, and symbols (>, <, or =).

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Compare two whole numbers up to 100 using the symbols >, <, or = and explain their reasoning using place value.
Arrange a small group of numbers (up to 5 numbers) in increasing or decreasing order and justify the order using tens and ones.
Identify missing numbers in a section of a number line from 1 to 100 or in a hundreds chart, explaining their answers using place value.
Solve word problems involving comparison of quantities up to 100 in everyday situations and express answers using comparative language.
Use the terms “greater than”, “less than”, “equal to”, “bigger”, “smaller”, “increasing order”, and “decreasing order” correctly when talking about numbers.
