Learning Objectives

Indicator: B2.1.1.1.1 - Use number names, counting sequences and how to count to find out “how many?”

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Skip count forwards and backwards by 2s, 5s and 10s from 0 up to 1000 and back down to 0, starting at 0 or at any multiple of 2, 5, 10, 50 or 100.
  2. Identify and correct errors or omissions in given counting and skip counting sequences.
  3. Use skip counting by 2s, 5s or 10s to answer “how many?” questions about groups of objects up to 1000.
  4. Represent the number of objects in a group with a written numeral up to 1000.
  5. Estimate the number of objects in a group of up to 1000, describe the estimation strategy used, and justify the choice of an appropriate estimate.
