Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.2.1.1.1 - Demonstrate an understanding of repeating patterns with 2 to 4 repeating elements

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the repeating core (unit) in a given pattern of shapes, numbers, sounds or actions with 2 to 4 elements.
  2. Extend a repeating pattern by continuing the core at least three more times correctly.
  3. Create their own repeating pattern using shapes, numbers, sounds or actions with 2 to 4 elements.
  4. Find and describe missing elements or errors in a repeating pattern and correct them.
  5. Translate one form of a pattern (e.g., numbers) into another form (e.g., shapes or sounds) and describe patterns found in their environment, including local fabrics.
