Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B4.4.9.3.2 - Proofread draft, checking capitalisation, usage, punctuation and spelling
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and correct errors in capitalisation, punctuation, and spelling in a given draft paragraph.
- Apply proofreading marks or simple correction strategies (underlining, circling, caret insertion) to mark errors in their own revised draft from Week 4, Slot 1.
- Use a self-check checklist (capital letters, full stops, commas, question marks, spelling) to review their own writing before producing a final copy.
- Work with a partner to peer-edit a draft, giving and receiving feedback on at least three punctuation, capitalisation, or spelling errors.
- Produce a neat final copy of their revised paragraph, applying the proofreading corrections they identified.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
- Have learners proofread the revised draft of their writing with focus on the conventions of punctuation, capitalisation, spellings, etc. - Let them do peer editing. Learners check their partners' writing for errors (punctuations, spelling, etc.) - Have learners write a neat final copy and read it once again to check for errors.
