Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.4.1.1.2 - Demonstrate awareness of the rules for writing word-medial hamza (ء) in the Arabic text.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify the word-medial hamza (ء) in given Arabic words and state which vowel or letter immediately precedes it.
State the rule for writing word-medial hamza when the preceding letter carries kasrah (i), using at least three examples.
State the rule for writing word-medial hamza when the preceding letter carries dhammah (u), using at least three examples.
State the rule for writing word-medial hamza when the preceding letter carries fat-hah (a) or is a sukoon (no vowel), using at least three examples.
Write correctly words containing word-medial hamza from dictation, applying the appropriate rule with accuracy as measured by 7 out of 10 words spelled correctly.
