Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.4.1.1.3 - Demonstrate awareness of the rules for writing word-final hamza (ء) in the Arabic text.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

State the three main rules that determine how hamza is written at the end of a word, based on the vowel of the preceding letter.
Write word-final hamza correctly on the proper seat (alif, waw, ya, or on the line) for given words such as تُضِيءُ, يَدُوءُ, and سَمَاء.
Apply the rule for word-final hamza with accusative tanwīn (فتحتان) by adding alif before the tanwīn, as in سَمَاءً and شَاطِئًا.
Distinguish between hamza written on the line after alif, and hamza written on a seat (waw or ya), in word-final position.
Correctly write at least 8 of 10 given words with word-final hamza, demonstrating accuracy in applying the rules.
