Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.4.1.1.3 - Show competence in writing the diacritics in their various forms in a handwritten script.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and name the diacritical marks (harakat) in Arabic: fatha, kasra, damma, sukoon, shadda, and tanween forms.
  2. Write the three main diacritics (fatha, kasra, damma) correctly above or below letters in a handwritten script.
  3. Write the tanween forms (tanween fatha, tanween kasra, tanween damma) and sukoon accurately in their correct positions.
  4. Apply shadda with its accompanying vowel correctly when writing simple Arabic words.
  5. Copy a given Arabic text of 8 to 10 words, placing all diacritics accurately in a neat handwritten script.
