Indicator: B6.3.1.1.1 - Describe the importance of prayer in our lives
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define prayer as communication between a worshipper and the object of worship.
- Identify at least three types of prayer and match them to Christianity, Islam, and Traditional African Religion.
- Explain at least three reasons why prayer is important in our daily lives.
- Demonstrate respectfully how prayer is performed in at least two of the three major religions practised in Ghana.
- Express their own views on how prayer influences their personal behaviour and relationships with others.

Learners discuss the meaning of prayer: a communication between the worshipper and the object of worship. Learners talk about the types of prayer: Christianity- thanksgiving, intercession, supplication, confession, etc. Islam- Salat (five daily compulsory prayers), congregational (Ju`mah), etc. Traditional- thanksgiving, intercession, supplication, confession, etc. Learners discuss the importance of prayer: • brings us closer to God • It shows our dependence on God, etc. Learners demonstrate how prayer is done in the three major religions.
