Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.2.2.LI.2 - Deduce the laws of reflection.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

State the two laws of reflection in their own words after performing a guided experiment with plane mirrors and optical pins.
Deduce the laws of reflection from experimental observations of the angle of incidence and angle of reflection for several rays.
Verify, using a protractor, that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection for at least three different incident angles.
Construct ray diagrams showing the incident ray, reflected ray, and normal, and correctly identify all three components.
Explain, using experimental evidence, why the incident ray, reflected ray, and normal all lie in the same plane.
