By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify unfamiliar words in a complex text and determine their meanings using context clues such as definitions, examples, and contrasts.
Distinguish between the literal and figurative meanings of words and phrases in given sentences.
Use synonyms and antonyms to explain the meaning of challenging vocabulary in a reading passage.
Rewrite sentences from a complex text using their own words while preserving the original meaning.
Create original sentences that demonstrate correct usage of newly learned vocabulary in appropriate contexts.
