By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify unfamiliar words in a complex text and determine their meanings using context clues such as definitions, examples, and contrasts.
- Distinguish between the literal and figurative meanings of words and phrases in given sentences.
- Use synonyms and antonyms to explain the meaning of challenging vocabulary in a reading passage.
- Rewrite sentences from a complex text using their own words while preserving the original meaning.
- Create original sentences that demonstrate correct usage of newly learned vocabulary in appropriate contexts.
