Indicator: B4.2.6.3.2 - Deduce meaning of words from how they relate to one another (synonyms, antonyms)

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define synonym and antonym in their own words and give at least two examples of each.
  2. Identify pairs of synonyms and antonyms from a list of level-appropriate words.
  3. Replace words in given sentences with suitable synonyms or antonyms without changing the sentence’s core meaning.
  4. Play the Synonym Tree Game correctly, matching word pairs as synonyms or antonyms.
  5. Create their own word pairs (one synonym pair and one antonym pair) and explain the relationship between the words.
